Budgeting on Sunday nights works for us. Maybe some couples have a hard time re-living the previous weeks purchases, but we get along pretty well. No fighting (it is the Sabbath day after all *wink*). If anything we have great discussions and sometimes end up talking about our goals and dreams. This Sunday's budget meeting lasted a little longer then usual since we had to re-assign each dollar a job. We're trying really hard to stick with this budgeting thing and it hasn't really been that difficult. (Truth be told, I thought Mark would have the hardest time with it... but turns out he's loving it as am I. We both feel a lot more in control of our situation.) It's nice to know what we spend our money on, where we can improve and spend less, plan our savings and set goals for items we want to be able to purchase in the future. Making money is a frequent topic around this house (has been since the day we were married). With Mark working at home he often bounces ideas off me or uses me as a sounding board. I love this because it always keeps our lines of communication open on this topic. I know what/how his business is doing and I'm even starting to help with a few things. I think it's going to be pretty rewarding for both of us and for our family. I'm happy Mark and I mix so well together. Happy that we can spend so much of our time together without (honestly) growing tired of each other. Mark does such a good job of approaching life with an open, straight forward point of view (often leaning heavily toward optimism) so it's hard not to stay positive right along with him. Pretty much what I'm saying is that I really love being married to him even through this tight spot we are having because if the last five years have taught me anything it's that it always works out way better then I ever imagine.
